The point of the original joke was to show off that Rex knew about Anakin and Padme. Secondly, it's removal from the episode is also fine. They're humans and they've already been show to have 'interests' outside of soldiering (though mainly centring on female Twi's.) It may not be the most progressive view of women, but you have a whole army of people who's only contact with members of the opposite sex are Jedi, the dancers at 79's and whatever they can get off the holonet between battles.so this kind of thing is to be expected. Anyone who thinks otherwise has obviously never spent any time around soldiers.
OK guys, first off the nose art thing is fine in the context in which it was initially presented.
